1st ever AI-powered fashion boutique - physically selling items that are trending online in real time

The Scurri eCommerce weekly top 3

Each week we gather the top three ecommerce news items of the week. Here’s what stood out for us this week!

Westfield shopping centre, London, has partnered with trends experts Next Atlas to use machine learning and live data to offer a rotating range of 100 trending items. Human stylists will then find the items from within the shopping centre for people to try on.

‘A pioneering example of how AI will be relevant for customers as well as a way to make stores more effective in generating enhanced customer experiences.’ The concept boutique will run from July 3 – 7.

The Clicks and Mortar initiative will open 10 stores across the country as part of a year-long pilot scheme. 100 small online businesses will have the opportunity to trade in a physical retail setting.

“UK shoppers like to shop both online and in high street stores, and our intention is to help small businesses succeed by combining the best elements of online and high street retail,” said Emma Jones, founder of Enterprise Nation.

This comes at the same time that Amazon is purging thousands of smaller suppliers, these suppliers will now need to focus on selling items directly to the customer via Amazon’s marketplace, rather than selling wholesale directly to Amazon and letting it manage the retail side.

The 22,000sq ft flagship store will open in London’s Oxford Circus in July. The store will offer shoppers an interactive space to test Microsoft’s latest technology, products and services as well as having an Answer Desk, where customers can get tech support, repairs, training and advice from specialist staff.
