The number of cross-border mobile ecommerce orders has increased globally by more than 43% in the past year. (Global-e) . Global-e tracked the growth of cross-border orders from UK retailers across more than 200 international markets from 2017 to 2018. Global-e also tracked the same markets for cross-border sales on mobile for the first three months of 2019, comparing them to the same period in 2018, there was a significant additional increase in many markets, revealing that the trend towards m-commerce continues to rise. The number of self-made millionaires on Ebay has soared by 18 per cent in the past year despite challenging trading conditions.

 

Almost 1300 users have been defined as millionaires in the last 12 months, which is the most since 2009, according to new figures from the eCommerce giant. “The uplift in the number of Ebay millionaires demonstrates how entrepreneurs up and down the country are keeping up with the ever-changing needs of consumers, despite some tough economic conditions,” Ebay UK vice president Rob Hattrell said. Sainsbury’s has warned that a no-deal Brexit could have severe consequences for those shopping for tech, electronics and toys this Christmas. Mike Coupe, chief executive of Sainsbury’s group which includes Argos said that as retailers are progressively stockpiling goods in preparation for a no-deal Brexit, warehouses won’t have the capacity when it comes to stockpiling for Christmas in October. He added that electricals and toys could be the worst affected sectors, as no-deal Brexit would affect trading relations where most toys and electrical goods are made and where relations are currently governed by EU-based agreements.
