Subscription box sector to be worth £1 billion

The eCommerce weekly top 3

As part of our ecommerce influencer series, we ask leading UK ecommerce and shipping leaders to share their top three news items of the week. This week is Chloë Thomas.

When I’m scouring eCommerce and retail news I’m looking for what it will tell me about how to be successful in the future. How strategies and marketing activity needs to adapt to the ever-changing marketplaces we operate in.

  1. Report: Feedvisor Estimates 3 out of 4 Brands Will Sell on Amazon

In business, we have to listen to the customer if want to grow and stay in business. And what this report, along with many others, is telling us is that the customer wants to buy on Amazon.
Which leaves me thinking – what does that then mean for own-website sales? What does the role of the company website become? What can we take from the attraction of Amazon and use in our own sites?
This is going to be a fascinating space for the next few years.

  3. ASOS Instant – On Campus launched with Collect Plus and On the dot

This article combines two of the most important areas of eCommerce success. Understanding your customers, and taking the pain out of delivery. Whilst most businesses don’t have the scale to copy this solution, every retailer can work on understanding their customer better, and taking the pain out of delivery.

  5. In 5 years time… Subscription box sector to be worth £1 billion

Subscription eCommerce is my other big obsession at the moment, as this report from Royal Mail states within the next 5 years it’s going to be worth £1bn in the UK. But it’s a much more complex market than you might think… which is why I’m really pleased to finally be able to get my hands on a copy of this report.
