As part of our ecommerce influencer series, we ask leading UK ecommerce and shipping leaders to share their top three news items of the week. This week is Alex Mortimer.

A lean supply chain is pivotal to any business. It is Important to reference these points to appreciate the main factors that are likely to impact the supply chain this year.

Its interesting to see how supermarkets (or any retailer) is looking to try and differentiate itself to others and why.

Does anyone know what a supply chain is? This week I spent some time at the National Apprenticeship Show, trying to recruit supply chain degree apprentices that we deliver on.

 

Not many of the youngsters I met knew which concerns me… we need to professionalise the supply chain sector and this starts with the next generation.

Alex is the Commercial Director of the Multi-Award Winning Supply Chain Academy and a Board Director at the Uniserve Group.

 

Alex is responsible for leading and managing the Supply Chain Academy and CP Training, building their reputation and designing training / education programmes that are relevant and current for businesses to succeed.

 

He has worked with Blue Chip / leading organisations including BAE Systems, Duracell, Thomson Reuters (in London and New York), Toshiba, Mitsubishi Electric, Coca-Cola, Sanofi Pharmaceuticals, Alliance Pharma, Intel UK & more.

 

Alex holds visiting lecturer posts at Leeds Trinity University, Anglia Ruskin University and the University of Essex. He was part of the team that created the first UK degree apprenticeship in supply chain leadership. He is also an elected CBI council member and IoD ambassador.
