The UK’s biggest retailer on Wednesday said it would start trialing grocery home deliveries with drones from October.

 

As part of a virtual event on Wednesday, Tesco’s chief executive Dave Lewis said the business was considering new ways to reach customers, and that it will launch the trial in Ireland, where partner Manna already has a licence to operate. Read the full article here.

The UK’s economy continued to recover in July after the easing of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, with GDP growing by 6.6% according to new figures published by the ONS. This means July GDP is 18.6% higher than its April 2020 low, in which there was a record fall of 20%.

 

Encouragingly, there was a major boost for the wholesale, retail and repair of motor vehicles subsector, which recovered to go above pre-pandemic levels in February 2020. Read the full article here.

Amazon on Wednesday announced it will launch a US-wide Career Day event, recruiting 33,000 jobs for corporate and tech positions.

 

The online retail giant said a team of 1,000 Amazon recruiters would be offering 20,000 free career coaching sessions on Wednesday, September 16. Read the full article here.
