Fashion retailers are set to face continued struggles after they reopen next week as one in five UK shoppers say they’ll never shop in-store again.

 

Over two thirds of UK consumers say they’ll only return to bricks-and-mortar fashion stores if major changes are made to ensure strict hygiene and social distancing measures are maintained, according to new research from Meepl which surveyed 2008 UK shoppers.

 

A further 20 per cent of shoppers say they will never return to bricks-and-mortar stores after lockdown has been lifted, favouring the safety and convenience of online shopping permanently instead. Read the full article here.

Non-essential retailers could continue to struggle after opening their doors next week as 70 per cent of customers say they wouldn’t feel comfortable shopping in store.

 

According to EY’s Future Consumer Index report, British consumers are increasingly concerned with returning to “normal life” and are increasingly anxious about visiting physical stores. Read the full article here.

Almost three in five consumers have used more local stores and services to help support them during the coronavirus lockdown, according to new research.

 

Analysis from Deloitte Digital that focuses on the impact of the pandemic on customer experience showed that 59 per cent of consumers used more local convenience stores that remained open during the lockdown.

 

In addition, 57 per cent of consumers say they will be more likely to spend money at a shop that offers locally-produced products once the lockdown has lifted than they would have done before the stay-at-home order was imposed. Read the full article here.
