A new feature on the John Lewis app uses augmented reality, so users can see themselves wearing the lipstick they want to test. 17% of all app orders are for beauty products so with this in mind they are taking a proactive approach by expanding the services and experiences available to shoppers.

Wing Aviation, Google’s drone subsidiary, has received permission from the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and the Department of Transportation to begin carrying out deliveries. Up until now, they were only performing demonstration flights. 

This came as 46% of UK retailers said the future of their business depended on improving fulfilment and logistics, with 73% said more companies will need to offer free delivery to compete. One of the areas of pressure was returns, with 56% saying effective management of returns is key to the profitability of online sales.
